Our Suppliers & Materials
The quality of a roof or cladding installation is only as good as the materials behind it. At VIC Metal Roofing, we work exclusively with Australia’s leading steel manufacturers - BlueScope Steel and Lysaght - because their products are engineered specifically for Australian conditions, carry manufacturer-backed warranties, and have a proven performance record on commercial and residential projects across Victoria.
We do not cut corners on materials. Every project - from a residential re-roof to a large industrial warehouse - is built with products we stand behind completely.
BlueScope Steel
Our Primary Steel Supplier
BlueScope Steel is Australia’s largest steel manufacturer and the company behind two of the most trusted names in Australian construction: Colorbond® and Zincalume®. Founded in Port Kembla in 1928, BlueScope has spent nearly a century developing and refining steel products specifically engineered for Australian conditions - the UV intensity, coastal salinity, and temperature extremes that overseas steel products are simply not tested for.
Every Colorbond® and Zincalume® product we install is manufactured by BlueScope to Australian Standards AS 1397:2021 and AS/NZS 2728:2013, and is eligible for manufacturer-backed material warranties registered directly with BlueScope. This is not a contractor’s warranty - it is the manufacturer standing behind the steel itself.

Colorbond® Steel
The Material of Choice for Australian Roofing
Colorbond® has been a staple of Australian residential and commercial construction since the 1960s. It is a pre-painted, zinc-aluminium alloy coated steel that delivers outstanding weather resistance, thermal performance, and long-term colour retention. At VIC Metal Roofing, Colorbond® is the material we install on the majority of our projects.
Colorbond® Classic Steel
The standard Colorbond® product used across residential and commercial roofing and cladding. Available in 22 enduring colours with a low-sheen finish designed to weather beautifully in Australian conditions. Suitable for roofing, wall cladding, gutters, fascias, and downpipes.
★ Most common material used on VIC Metal Roofing residential and commercial projects.
Colorbond® Matt Steel
A soft, diffused finish that eliminates the low-level sheen of standard Colorbond®. Increasingly specified on premium residential and architectural commercial projects where a refined, contemporary aesthetic is part of the brief. Available in a select colour range.
★ Ideal for feature facades and homes where the roof is a visible design element.
Colorbond® Metallic Steel
A distinctive lustrous metallic finish that delivers a high-end contemporary appearance. Suited to architectural cladding applications, commercial feature facades, and projects where visual impact is a priority. Not available in the standard colour range — the metallic finish is the product.
★ Used for premium architectural cladding and facade feature panels.

Colorbond® Ultra Steel
An enhanced-grade Colorbond® specifically engineered for coastal and high-corrosion environments — within 5km of surf beaches, tidal waters, or industrial atmospheres. Delivers the same colour range and aesthetic as standard Colorbond® with a significantly improved corrosion resistance rating.
★ Recommended for projects within 5km of coastline or in high-industrial environments.
Colorbond® Coolmax® Steel
A specialist Colorbond® product engineered for large commercial and industrial roofs where solar heat gain is a significant concern. The Coolmax® coating technology reflects more of the sun’s infrared radiation than standard Colorbond® in the same colour, reducing roof surface temperatures and the heat transferred into the building below. This directly reduces cooling loads and energy costs for warehouses, factories, and large commercial facilities.
★ Recommended for commercial and industrial roofs over 500m² where energy performance is a priority.
Zincalume® Steel
Bare Metal Performance
Zincalume® is the unpainted zinc-aluminium alloy coated steel substrate that underpins Colorbond®. Used as a finished product in its own right, it delivers a bright, silver-grey metallic appearance that suits industrial, contemporary, and minimalist architectural styles.
Zincalume® Steel
A zinc-aluminium alloy coated steel with a natural metallic finish. Highly corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and durable. Used across industrial roofing and walling where an unpainted metallic aesthetic is preferred, or where the roof surface will not be visible from the ground. Also available in the Zincalume® Ultra grade for high-corrosion environments.
★ Standard material for industrial shed roofing, secondary structures, and exposed-steel design applications.

Lysaght
Roll-formed steel profiles for roofing and cladding
Lysaght is Australia’s leading manufacturer of roll-formed steel building products, producing the roof and wall cladding profiles that are installed on millions of Australian buildings. A BlueScope company, Lysaght manufactures its profiles from Colorbond® and Zincalume® steel, so the material quality is the same - the profile is what changes.
The profile - the shape, rib height, and fixing system of the steel sheet - determines how the finished roof or wall looks, how it performs structurally, what pitch it can be installed on, and whether it uses exposed or concealed fasteners. Choosing the right profile for the application is part of what we bring to every project.
Roofing & Cladding Profiles We Install
Custom Orb® - Corrugated Steel
The classic Australian corrugated iron profile. Round-crested corrugations 76mm apart provide excellent structural rigidity, weather resistance, and a timeless appearance.
Suitable for residential roofing, agricultural buildings, and industrial applications. Available in the full Colorbond® colour range and Zincalume®.
★ Most common profile for residential re-roofing and heritage-compatible projects.
Trimdek® - Trapezoidal Rib
A high-performance trapezoidal rib profile with subtle pan fluting. Trimdek® delivers clean, contemporary lines on both roofing and wall cladding applications, with excellent spanning capacity that allows wider purlin spacing - reducing structural framing requirements.
Suitable for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. Pitch as low as 1°.
★ Our most frequently specified profile on commercial and industrial new builds and re-roofing projects.
Klip-Lok 700 Hi-Strength® - Concealed Fix
A premium concealed-fix profile with bold ribs rising from flat pans with micro-cross fluting. Klip-Lok®’s concealed clip fixing system means no fasteners penetrate the cladding surface - delivering superior watertightness, a clean uninterrupted aesthetic, and excellent wind-uplift resistance.
Suitable for very low pitches (as low as 1°) and long-span applications. Available in Colorbond® and Zincalume®. Onsite roll-forming available for extremely long lengths.
★ Preferred profile for large commercial and industrial roofs, premium facades, and projects where watertightness is critical.
Spandek® - Trapezoidal
A trapezoidal profile with a deeper rib than Trimdek®, providing greater spanning capacity and a more pronounced visual rhythm on both roofing and wall cladding.
Suitable for commercial and industrial applications, particularly where wider purlin spacing is required.
★ Used on commercial and industrial projects requiring enhanced spanning performance.
Trimwall® - Wall Cladding
A lightweight variant of Trimdek® designed exclusively for wall cladding applications. Trimwall® provides the clean trapezoidal rib aesthetic of Trimdek® in a profile optimised for vertical installation on commercial and industrial building facades.
★ Used for commercial and industrial wall cladding where a trapezoidal rib aesthetic is specified.
Longline 305® - Architectural Standing Seam
A clean, contemporary standing seam profile with a narrow 305mm cover width. Longline 305® delivers the sleek uninterrupted lines of an architectural standing seam system in a roll-formed Colorbond® product, suitable for both roofing and feature wall cladding. Ideal for premium residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments where the facade is a significant design element.
★ Specified on premium commercial, architectural residential, and mixed-use development projects.

Roof Plumbing, Gutters & Accessories
A roof is more than just the sheet on top. The gutters, downpipes, flashings, ridges, and fascias that complete the installation are all manufactured from the same Colorbond® and Zincalume® steel, ensuring colour consistency and the same corrosion-resistance performance across the entire building envelope.
At VIC Metal Roofing, all roof plumbing components are matched to the primary roofing or cladding material on your project:
-
Gutters and fascias - roll-formed in matching Colorbond® to complement the roof profile
-
Downpipes - available in round and square profiles in the full Colorbond® colour range
-
Flashings, ridges & cappings - custom-fabricated on site or in-shop to suit the specific profile and building detail
-
Valleys - formed in Zincalume® or Colorbond® to match or contrast the roof colour
-
Fasteners -specified to meet BlueScope’s warranty requirements for each product and environment, including stainless steel fasteners in coastal applications

Why Supplier and Material Quality Matters
On every project - commercial or residential - the material specification directly determines how long the installation lasts, how it performs over time, and what warranty protection the building owner has. Using premium, manufacturer-warranted materials from BlueScope and Lysaght means:
-
Products are tested and certified to Australian Standards (AS 1397:2021, AS/NZS 2728:2013)
-
Material warranties are registered directly with the manufacturer — not just the contractor
-
Colour and finish consistency is guaranteed across every panel, sheet, and component
-
Performance in the specific Australian climate is not estimated — it is proven over decades
-
Colorbond® Ultra and Klip-Lok® profiles are independently tested for wind-uplift performance in cyclonic and high-wind environments
When you receive a quote from VIC Metal Roofing, the materials specified are always named by product and grade - never described vaguely as ‘quality steel’ or ‘industry-standard material’. You know exactly what is going on your building and who stands behind it.
